Eligible Income Sources

  • Employment income
  • Pension income
  • Registered retirement savings plans (RRSPs)
  • Interest income (under $1,200)
  • Benefits (CPP, OAS, disability, EI, social assistance)
  • Scholarships, fellowships, bursaries, or grants

We cannot help if you have:

  • Business or self-employment income
  • Employment expenses
  • Rental income and expenses
  • Capital gains or losses
  • Interest income over $1,200
  • Foreign income or foreign property (T1135)
  • Declared bankruptcy in the tax year
  • Deceased individual's return

2What to Bring

Please bring the following documents to your appointment.

Proof of Identity

  • Valid government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver's licence, health card, passport, etc.)

Personal Information

  • Social Insurance Number (SIN) or Individual Tax Number (ITN)
  • Current mailing address
  • Marital status
  • Previous year's income tax return and Notice of Assessment (NOA)
  • Children's/dependant's date of birth and net income (if applicable)
  • For newcomers: date of arrival and foreign income earned before arriving

  • Rent receipts / property tax receipts
  • Donation receipts
  • Medical expense receipts
  • Tuition receipts (T2202A)
  • Child care receipts
  • RRSP contribution receipts
  • Bus pass receipts (seniors)

  • T4 – Employment income
  • T4A – Pension, retirement, annuity income
  • T4A(OAS) – Old Age Security
